The Mystic Gate

What of the child who hid the key within his room

Whose dreams in wintry nights foresaw a Spring in bloom.

Oh whether now, or by long winding paths delayed

Alas,

We each must journey through the garden

Unto the Mystic Gate

‘Amathafa’ – The Plains

We’re born of the wind, clothed by the earth

and to each we must return.

The sun will shine, the grass will grow

and the valleys in their quiet solitude

whisper our memories

in the hearts of those who stay behind.

Listen…

The dead are everywhere,

but who among us is living?

A Long Walk’s End

It is 1:10pm.

At this moment you are making your final journey back home to ‘Qunu’

in an airplane bearing a casket.

Your body will be buried but your spirit will endure.

Although I didn’t get to meet you personally, I feel that I know you very well.

Your legacy lives in the spirit of your vision, a vision not only of Africa but of the whole world.

I have learned from you to listen to the Great Tutor, whose song is in the Earth, the sky and the wind.

It is the song of unchained freedom and unconditional love.

I will carry this song in my heart and every day I will try to sing it as sweetly as you.

Rest well ‘Tata Madiba’

Come the Dawn

How sweet the flute that softly whispers

unto the Guardian of the night,

who holds the Keys unto the Kingdom,

who is the Sentinel of Light.

For there by mighty steeds – a chariot,

the Pipers Golden Gates are drawn.

Ah, how the night reveals her mystery,

Come the Dawn.

Kinsmen of the Sun

The horizon of the mind is vast and free. It has many dawns and sunsets, many valleys and vistas, but only the brave will near its mystery, only the young will know its heart.

Free yourself of restricting views, 2nd hand ideas and inherited concepts which have been passed down to you. Delete the unwanted, the conflicting, the dividing, the uncaring disguised, the mechanical, the traditional, the cold reasoning mind of society that demands you cut out your heart & lay waste to your dreams for a productive life.

Explore your heart, explore your mind & the places of mental discomfort where high walls were built to keep you in. There in the lands of the forbidden where so few travel, remove your shoes and touch the earth. There you will find the Path to freedom and see the stars for the very first time.

Allow Truth to reveal itself to you. Allow it in as a guest and it will stay as a companion. Never again will you be alone.

Let go, let go, and this world will become an open road, rather than the extravagant cell which was so carefully prepared for you.

The serenity of Being

STOP FOR A MOMENT. JUST STOP!

Stop your mind, stop your thoughts, stop your issues.

Sometimes the networks of the mind become tangled on the highways of thought & life’s sacredness is blurred.
The world is filled with magic but it doesn’t come to those who look for it. The mystery & wonder of it all is not an external condition but an internal one. We can only experience it in the stillness of Being, in the present moment, and every experience holds a sacred value.

Never allow the past or the future to blind you to the light that exist between and within us all.

Keep your eyes, your ears and your heart open at all times.

Remember, you are a child of the universe just like every other

The Astronomer

“In the shadow of the temple my friend and I saw a blind man sitting alone.

And my friend said, “Behold the wisest man of our land.”

Then I left my friend and approached the blind man and greeted him.

And we conversed.

After a while I said, “Forgive my question, but since when hast thou been blind?”

“From my birth,” he answered.

Said I, “And what path of wisdom followest thou?”

Said he, “I am an astronomer.”

Then he placed his hand upon his breast, saying, “I watch all these suns and moons and stars.”

‘Filius Maris’ – Son of the Sea

Q:  What is the nature of man?

A:  The same as the drop of rain, who’s essence is the sea.

Q:  What is Man’s purpose?

A:  To flow as water and simply Be, that his Soul may clearly reflect upon the waters of life.

Q: How may he overcome obstacles?

Patience and persistence are conquerors. This is how the river shapes the rock.

Q:  What is Mans duty?

A:  Man’s duty to himself, as well as to others, is to recognize every life as a stream and to know that as he gathers Self unto himself, his course will become as a river.

Know then that all rivers share the same destiny: to return to the body to which they belong.

Do not disrupt the course of another. Their journey is your journey.

We are pulled by the same tides and called from the same depths.

Q:  What of death? What becomes of man when the earth reclaims her limbs?

A:  Are the clouds strangers to the sky?

Does the glorious sun not absorb the raindrop, leaving the soil behind? And shall it not be let loose again that it may complete the journey?

Q: And what of Truth? Can man become lost in the falsehoods of the world?

Is the ebb lost to the flow? What is shall pass, what was shall be.

The true compass lies within and we are bound to the force that directs it.

He who searches his depths shall fathom the tides that stir him so.

Be. In Being, Know

Two Paths

Last night, you said to me,

“Sometimes two paths become so close,

their boundaries begin to blur

and they become lost to one another”.

“This is the Law of the Lost”, you said.

“And we must accept it.”

I would not.

“It all depends”, I replied,

“on whether you’re looking back or looking ahead.

Every path, in meeting another, becomes one for a time,

and in the merging, the two become inseparable,

even though they may again diverge”.

Origins

When they discover the centre of the universe, some people may be disappointed that they are not it,

yet pleasantly surprised to discover that it is the centre of everyone.

The measuring of the temple

The Mariner's Journal - The measuring of the Temple

Within the Summum Bonum

there lies a circle squared.

A sphere of endless measure,

A centre everywhere.

You seek the cube unfolded,

so called the golden stone.

The crest of  Sarah & Maria

whose seed did bear us home.

Eques aurei Lapidis

The mariner's Journal - Eques aurei Lapidis

O ancient Mage upon the deep,

O pilgrim from afar,

Where vertical and horizontal meet,

There first arose the path.

What blessed jewel thou hath unearthed,

What precious stone indeed.

Whose radiance upon the knight

reveals the inner seed.
